Hey finally the new blog is here, hope
you enjoy it.
My sister Yahan Gonzalez
My sister’s name is Yahan Gonzalez,
she was born on 13/October/1996.
She’s deaf, so she has this limitation,
and here is the story about how she got over it.
Yahan was born deaf, our parents
realized it because one day at a party a balloon exploded behind her and she
didn’t notice it.
Our parents decided to bring her to
the hospital to check what was going on.
The doctor says to my mom and dad that
Yahan has this disability.
When she had 5 years old, our parents
decided to bring her to Monterrey for put an implant in her head for help her
to listen, I know that because my dad filmed it all, I like to see that videos.
The implant cost like $40,000 pesos, it was very expensive and it was new at
that moment. It works for a moment and then she starts to telling my mom that
it makes her head hurts and it didn’t work very well, I mean she say that she
kind of hear a little bit but she didn’t want to used anymore.
Yahan went to a normal school as a
normal kid would, Scarlett our bigger sister, was in that school too, so she
told me that teachers always call her because Yahan was crying and they didn’t
know what to do. She told me that it was hard for her to understand all the
classes because obviously teachers speak and she didn’t understand anything
that she was saying and that's why she always gets bad ratings.
Someone told my mom about a school
that is called ILAL for deaf people where they teach them sign language.
She learned it and then teach to us.
They give to her a very big book where
is all the words in sign language.
Since I was little, I learn it to
communicate with her also my dad, my mom and my brother and sister.
Now she is trying to teach to my
niece, she is still so little, but she already learn how to say somethings.
She as a normal teenager had friends
and play some sports like tennis, swimming and she also draw.
At tennis she was the champion
multiple times as well as in swimming and she was awarded in drawing too.
Then she at the age of 18, she like to
take pictures, she asks to my parents for a professional camera. Then she
stared to like to take from her, she starts to like to be a model.
At 2017 she was at the “Orquesta
Sinfonica Esperanza Azteca” she learned to sing in signs and she sang at one
game from Santos and also sang at Mexico City.
She appears at one music video.
Then she gets in “Miss sorda México”,
where she travels to Guadalajara to be in the competition.
Before going to the competition at
Guadalajara, she takes a photoshoot at Astrid, Zermeño's wife, because she was
sponsoring her. Astrid sponsored a native dress and the photographer.
When she travels, she only travelled
with my mom and my aunt.
At the competition she meets a lot of
people from other places, after some test for the girls, they decided the
winner and the 2nd place.
Yahan got the second place.
Multimedios invited her to Vivalavi to
share with everyone about her experience going to compete with other girls from
other states.
She starts to teach at the school
where she learns how to talk in sings when she was little, she was happy with
that job, but there was a better job for her that is teach to Zermeño and
Astrid sign language, so more people wanted to my sister teach to them signs.
1 year later (now) friends from my
sister, wanted to go at the new competition that Yahan went last year, so they
ask to my sister if she can help them giving them tips and how to walk at the
runway, how to be with the judges, how to interact with the public, how to
smile and be cool and more questions that they had to Yahan.
This year she glides a travel to
Merida for a deaf
congress, she is going to travel with friends and people from
the congress.
Actually, she is working at DIF for a
promotion publicity, she makes all the posters, because she is a designer.
It will be so amazing to make sing
language an international language.
Some people always ask to me things
like how do they buy things at the Oxxo or Seven Eleven and that stuff, how they
drive. So, about how they bought things they almost all the time write in their
phones and show it to the seller and for drive, they do, but is a little
dangerous for them, because if are driving and then an ambulance or something
like that want to pass and start to whistle, they aren’t going to heard it and
there can happen an accident. So, that they can, they can.
So as my kind of conclusion I think is
important to think that so many people that heard didn’t even get to these
triumphs, she is a clear example that everyone can have a normal life having
whatever disability.
It also shows us how everyone can get
real whatever dream, no matter who you are or if you have a disability or you
don’t, just follow your dreams and make it come true.
